The 1995 Restoration of the Harvey Powell General Store preserved some of the building's native stone construction and kept the original storefront intact. The building also provides a tie to the legal heritage of our community. It was built by former County Sheriff Harvey Powell whose daughter, Nell (Powell) Wright, was a prominent Mountain Home lawyer. She was later elected Chancery and Probate Judge, succeeding Huckaba, in the 11th Chancery District. Judge Nell Powell Wright is believed to be the first woman in Arkansas who went out, on her own, and was elected as a District Judge. OldStore Corner is also home to Cooper Law Firm, a young and growing law office. The Cooper Firm's general practice includes a wide range of legal matters including criminal law, bankruptcy, and family law.
